Disney World is supposed to be the most magical place on Earth. So why do 22% of people walk away feeling disappointed?
In this replay episode, I’m going back to five things you can do before your Disney trip to help make sure your vacation actually feels as good as you hope it will. Because the difference between an okay trip and one you can’t wait to do again starts long before you walk through the park gates.
If you’re figuring out how to plan a trip to Disney, especially if it’s your first time to Disney World, it’s easy to get caught up in resorts, dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, and everything you see people telling you that you “have” to do. But good planning starts with something much simpler: deciding what you actually want this vacation to feel like for your family.
In this episode, we talk about:
One of the biggest mistakes we can make when figuring out how to plan a trip to Disney is assuming that getting our money’s worth means doing as much as humanly possible. Skipping breaks, squeezing in another reservation, or pushing tired kids through one more attraction can leave everyone exhausted.
And if it’s your first time to Disney World, it can be especially hard to know what deserves a spot on your itinerary and what you can skip. You don’t have to do everything for the vacation to be worth it.
That’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from doing Disney World with kids. Sometimes saying no to one thing means saying yes to the slow, unexpected moments that become your favorite memories.
Whether this is your first time to Disney World or you’re already dreaming about your next Disney trip, I hope this replay gives you permission to plan around the people you’re actually traveling with instead of trying to create the “perfect” Disney vacation.
What’s one thing you’re giving yourself permission to skip on your next Disney trip so you can make more room for what your family actually enjoys? Share with me over on Instagram!

My life doesn't revolve around Disney like you may think. I live for my family: my husband and our three kids. In my spare time I like to make my home the best it can be, read on our porch and watch (you guessed it) Disney+.
