When my husband was a kid, his grandmother owned a thrift shop. Which meant Kolton got first dibs going through the secondhand tees.
Ever since I’ve known him, he’s always loved the specialness of vintage tees and the time it takes to find them.
After 15 years of marriage, I guess you could say he’s rubbed off on me.
Vintage Disney tees combine a lot of things I love: the nostalgia of Disney from my childhood, sustainable fashion + thoughtfulness.
Because you can’t just run into Target and buy a pre-loved vintage Disney tee. It takes effort, it takes time, and to me, that’s what makes it worthwhile.
How to find the best vintage Disney tees on Etsy, eBay and Poshmark
First, why buy vintage?
- Buying something that already exists has the lowest impact on the planet, making it the most sustainable way to shop.
- It’s more unique, so less chance of showing up in Disney World and seeing your fashion twin *gasp!*
- The fabric is better than when fast fashion became the norm + will last longer.
What tags mean on vintage Disney tees
Most of us only look at tags to see the sizes, but when it comes to finding vintage Disney tees online, tags are your compass.
Since you aren’t seeing the item in person, it’s important to ZOOM onto that tag. If the listing doesn’t show it, ask the seller if they have a photo of it.
If you find an item listed as “vintage” but you see a screen-printed tag? IT’S NOT VINTAGE.

This official name ceased to exist in 1986, so you know the item is at least that old if you see this anywhere on the tee!

Using an RN number to find a tee’s age
An RN (Registered Identification Number) is from the manufacturer to keep track of the “run” and is listed on the tags of older clothing. Why do we care?
In 1959, the RN codes started at the number 13670. So when you find an RN number on your tag, you can take a guess as to how old it is based on how “far away” it is from 13670.

How to find vintage Disney tees on Etsy, eBay + Poshmark
If there’s anything I’ve gotten good at since 2020, it’s online shopping. Here are some tips for finding the best vintage Disney tees on…
- Don’t include “vintage” in your search term. Under filters, make sure vintage is selected, like this:
- eBay will have the highest prices when it comes to vintage Disney, and to be honest: I’m willing to pay it. I don’t necessarily thrift to save money (I know), but I see the value on how often I’ll wear something and how many years I’ll have it.
Poshmark
- Poshmark has been AMAZING, just be cautious when it comes to the word “vintage” because it’s overused here. If you see a shirt with a screen-printed tag, keep looking.
- Sort results by “Just In” instead of “Just Shared” to find things less picked through.

When searching, I look under Men’s, Women’s, and Youth. You can wear tees fitted OR oversized – they’re very forgiving!
To find your perfect fit: grab your favorite tee and measure it from pit-to-pit. Remember that number for when you start shopping.
If you find a vintage that you LOVE but it’s too long? You can always cut it or have it hemmed. The white Mickey tee I’m wearing here is an XL, I just cut the bottom and rolled the sleeves.
